Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai
Rahat Indori gets to the heart of what India's election results mean
A more serious writeup soon but for now, some poetry in the inimitable style of Rahat Indori. English translation of the extracted text at the end along with paraphrased meaning in parantheses
English translation below (paraphrased meaning in parantheses)
Hamaare munh se jo nikle wahi sadaqat hai (the words from our mouth are the truth)
Hamare munh mein tumhaari zubaan thodi hai, (our mouth does not have your tongue)
Jo aaj sahib-e-masnad hai kal nahi honge, (those who are sitting on the throne today will not be there tomorrow)
Kiraaye daar hain zaati makaan thodi hai, (they are renters, not owners [of power]
Sabhi ka khoon hai shamil yahan ki mitti mein, (everyone’s blood is in this country’s soil)
Kisi ke baap ka HINDUSTAN thodi hai..." (India does not belong to anyone’s father)
What flows from our lips is the purest truth,
No borrowed tongue resides in our mouth.
Those seated high in power now will fall,
For they are tenants, not absolute owners.
This land is irrigated with everyone's blood,
No single person can say it's my father's alone.
